The Sustainable Goals for 2030 is the latest outcome from the UN agenda of Sustainable Development. This agenda started from the Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, 1972. Being through decades of difficult discussions and negotiations in terms of the relationship among environment protection, social equality and economic development, the UN process of sustainable development keeps pursuing the inter and intra generational equity. “The Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI) is an important partnership initiative to deepen cooperation and share prosperity among China and all countries along the route. It is also an essential opportunity for China to achieve energy transformation and low carbon development, as well as improving and exerting its green leadership. Therefore, we collaborated with several institutions and established “The Belt and Road” Green Development Cooperation Partnership. We are committed to conducting concrete research, facilitating exchanges and cooperation to provide constructive policy recommendations, and suggesting ideas on green development strategies of BRI.

We track the establishment, improvement and implementation of relevant policies of AIIB and New Development Bank to ensure that stakeholders are fully consulted in terms of their information disclosure and governance mechanisms and to maximize environmental and social benefits through development financing process.

We are devoted to promoting green finance development and responsible overseas investment, as well as connecting China’s financial activities with global ecology. We expect to reduce the ecological footprint of China’s domestic and overseas investments, helping capital market incorporate sustainability and climate resilience into investment principles, and allocating more resources to the environment and climate-friendly, low-carbon industries. We promote effective financial policy formulation and implementation for an environment-friendly, equitable and transparent society, and in doing so, expand public participation and supervision.

We observe the role of G20 in global climate and environmental governance from climate-friendly and environmental-sustainable perspectives in order to promote China and other G20 countries to transform towards a more sustainable, equitable and climate resilient economy.
