PDFOcean economy needs a sustainable development. As a market-based solution for ocean sustainable development, blue economy has been proposed and been a hotspot with widespread discussions and initiatives. Blue finance serves blue economy by distributing social capital towards marine conservation and sustainable use of marine resources. Developmental financial institutions and public sector have initiated a few action plans for ocean sustainable development, giving rise to financial practice on marine conservation and sustainable use of marine resources globally, such as blue bonds and loans. There are also forward-looking analysis and creative practice specifically focusing on sustainable marine sectors globally. Based on all of this, our study considers that blue finance could paly a more positive role in the sustainable development of ocean economy and proposes suggestions for future priorities for China.
