On 29th May 2012, Chinese local NGO SEE Foundation, Shanshui Conservation Center and Greennovation Hub, together with UNEP and 21 Chinese enterprises, announced to start a series of activities in topic of “China Going Green”.
To implement under the support of the Green Finance Committee, we have, providing the recommendations and Belt and Road Green Development Partnership has continued to organize the side events in COP24, telling the Chinese stories and providing the Chinese experiences, and discussing the low-carbon development pathway together with the international community.
The first negotiation session under UNFCCC in 2014 (ADP 2-4) was held in Bonn from 10 to 14 March. Durban Platform was established at the end of the Durban Climate Conference in 2011, in order to reach a new global climate agreement in Paris Conference which was going to be held in 2015. According to the outcome adopted in Warsaw last year, the agreement which was going to be announced in 2015 related discussion would play a significant role in ADP 2-4.
Argentina and Chile formally submitted proposals for the establishment of a marine protected area in the West Antarctic Peninsula.
The resolution decided to officially launch the Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) on the treaty of Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) in September 2018. The negotiations are expected to end in the first half of 2020. Once the treaty is agreed, half of the areas on Earth will be fully protected by international law.
The Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting was held in China for the first time. Greenovation Hub collaborated with the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition to organize multiple side events and supported a number of travel agencies to launch the “Responsible Tourism in Polar Regions” initiative.
