Background
Climate change is a risk multiplier for everyone, and it requires everyone’s action to combat climate change. Nowadays, the impact of extreme weather and climate change is becoming increasingly aggravated, and there’s increasing demand from the public for science-based communication on mitigation as well as adaptation to climate change. Informing the public of the facts about climate change, its serious impacts and the urgency of action, is key for promoting progressive climate action. This requires innovative forms of climate change communications in China, to strengthen the dissemination of climate change scientific knowledge, and create more space for the public to understand and participate in climate change action.
One year before the expected update of nationally determined contributions in 2020, 2019 is a critical year for countries to take action, to strengthen their pre-2020 actions and develop more ambitious NDCs.
