No basis for notion of fairness among nations: experts

China is committed to fulfilling the Paris climate change accord as the country has stepped up efforts to transform to a low-carbon economy, a sharp contrast to the recent moves by US President Donald Trump which erode the US’ ability to deliver on climate promises, experts said Thursday.

Many environmentalist are worried about losing what progress has been made on climate change after Donald Trump is inaugurated as US president, given his repeated denial of the issue. Chinese experts say they believe China will keep moving forward even if the Trump administration doesn’t come along.

Leadership shown by G20 members on tackling climate-change challenges will promote sustainable development and speed up ratification of the Paris Agreement, experts said.
